I have bought in the past and most recently Photo & Graphics programs from other other companies and all I was given in a PDF file after purchase was a activation key / License Key and that is it. Honestly this the first time I have ever seen or heard of a Program that requires a Serial # and an activation key, upon install to properly register in the owners name. I did however get a hold of Adobe support via chat late last night and explained my issue, and they could not look up the activation key, with out a Serial #. "I found a single file that is about 75 Mb and a text file with an Activation Key and that is it."īut after reading through my post's I stated Serial key rather than activation key, that is my error for mistaking the Serial Key for the activation key.Īs for what the coworker did with the PS CS6 file, well that is something I will not find out. I thought that I had made my issue clear in my OP. I do appreciate the replies and trying to assist, I really do. Now I understand between this thread and Adobe support chat, Current or all adobe products need a serial # and an activation keyĪnd I understand that it is not registered in my name, unless a transfer was done. So now that I have PS CS6, never installed, I figured I would give it a try, But I do not want to install it only to find out that it is not a Valid Activation Key, do I need to call on the phone or can I ?. Any graphics programs I used were either free or I bought Xara programs and most recently now that they are owned by magix I purchased a few updated ones just as they were going through the transition. I have never ever used Adobe products other than Flash player and shock-wave player and these are free or must have installs with other programs and or browser plugins. And in my attempt to get all my files sorted out and not have them scattered about the multiple HDD's, I found a single file that is about 75 Mb and a text file with an Activation Key and that is it. I have been doing some house cleaning sort of on my PC that has been updated some since then. Usually they have the name of the application listed in them (Ex: for Firefox preferences files) so they should be easy to find.As stated in the Subject line, How can I go about finding out if the Activation Key that I have is valid, I ask this because a Coworker that I worked with years ago had given me a couple of CD's with apps / programs on them back in late 2011 and mid 2012 or thereabouts. Macintosh HD ->Library->Preferences (for global system preferences) Macintosh HD ->Users->->Library->Preferences (for user specific preferences) On MAC I'm not sure, how does that look, coz there is no registry.but you can delete the files. It should be similar for Windows 7 and Vista. Note: The below picture is on Windows XP. the fastest way to find any serial number for your installed Adobe products on Windows, if you lost it!! Type “ regedit” to open the registry)Ģ) Click Hkey_Local_Machine > Software > Adobe product folder > Registration (for which you like to find SN#)ģ) Now, find "Serial" starting with '9' on the right side frame. Well, John, what you said is correct, that the serial number will be encrypted with a number starting with '9', I just provided the number to Adobe rep and they were able to decrypt the number for me.so you can try finding that, if worried about installing Belarc Advisor on Windows.ġ) Click Start > Run. Can anyone help me find which CS4 serial numbers have been used so I can determine how many volume licenses are remaining? Thank you! The serial numbers in Photoshop's Help > System Info menu begin with a '9' and are twenty digits long. For example, the Creative Suite 4 serial numbers begin with a '1' and are twenty-four digits. I've been trying to locate the serial numbers in the software, but the serial numbers for the individual applications do not correspond to any of the Creative Suite serial numbers I have. I'm trying to find out which licenses have been used and on which computers. One license/serial number was purchased from a non-profit reseller independently and eight volume licenses were purchased (one serial number for Mac, one for PC). Before I arrived, the previous manager purchased four serial numbers. Please start a new thread if you have further questions. The activation servers for CS4 have been shut down. Note from moderator: this post is from 2009 and things have changed.
